One thing is that it's a little busy. I have no idea if you can do this in post-processing, but maybe you could try keeping the front in focus, and blur the lanterns further back into just bright spots? There's a little blurring going on already; I just think more would help bring it across better.

I must admit blurring the background is way beyond my post-processing capabilities. What I experimented with the Lanterns photos (more in my gallery if you haven't seen them) is pretty much it! Ie cropping, contrast and hue! And also stamping out a drinks fridge ad some other unwanted items in the corners.
I might turn the image upside down, so that the big lanterns are the focus at the front of the image and the busyness fades into the background. Do you think that'd help?
